Foley & Mansfield is pleased to announce that Abbey Rooney, Director of Human Resources, has been named a 2018 “Unsung Legal Hero” by Minnesota Lawyer Magazine.

The award honors law firm employees with exceptional talent and high performance in the legal support field. Nominated by colleagues, supervisors and peers, winners are selected by a blue ribbon panel of industry experts.

In the past two years alone, Abby has managed the HR functions associated with opening six new offices, meeting the many challenges inherent in hiring and employment across multiple jurisdictions, including those with stringent employment requirements such as California.

Abby is also charged with developing and implementing proactive recruitment practices to increase the diversity of firm professionals and staff nationwide, including the firm’s adoption of the Mansfield Rule 2.0, a pioneering initiative that helps law firms diversify candidate pools for significant leadership positions. Evidence of the firm’s recent progress in this arena include being named a 2018 Top Firm for Diversity in the American Lawyer Diversity Scorecard, and earning the ranking of #11 on the National Law Journal 2018 Women’s Scorecard.

Abby holds both PHR and SHRM certifications and currently serves as President of the Minnesota Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators.

“Abby is a true leader for our firm. The partnership and leadership she demonstrates to our other administrative professionals, and to our partners and associates is truly exceptional,” said Peter Torseth, CEO.
