John Loomis, Of Counsel in Foley Mansfield’s Los Angeles office, has five decades of legal experience in the areas of product liability, medical liability, toxic tort and mass tort litigation, with a current emphasis on asbestos defense. During his career he has had highly varied and extensive experience in litigating and trying personal injury, construction defect, warning and accident prevention science, vaccine and professional malpractice matters. John has a special interest in cases involving the cutting edge of science, innovation and evolving medical technology.
In addition to representing clients in litigation matters, John has served as an arbitrator, mediator and judicial settlement officer in 200+ cases, and on multiple occasions as a Judge Pro Tem for the Los Angeles Superior Court.
Since being admitted to practice in California in 1970, John has appeared frequently in multiple State and Federal District Courts. He has also appeared in Nevada and Arizona courts and the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. He holds the peer-awarded highest possible Martindale-Hubbell rating for legal ability and adherence to professional standards of conduct, ethics, reliability and diligence. John has successfully tried a wide variety of cases in often highly technical contexts, including asbestos, and is well beyond ABOTA-qualified.
John has spoken at seminars, authored a multitude of educational legal outlines, and been published in the Southern California Defense Counsel Journal on “How to Take Expert Depositions.”
