Joseph Angiolillo specializes in the defense of toxic tort claims primarily involving personal injury and wrongful death claims in the area of asbestos litigation. He has represented product manufacturers, suppliers, and utilities in defending these claims since 2008. Joseph has over 10 years of trial experience in state courts throughout the State of New York as well as in the United States District Court for the Eastern and Southern Districts of NY. Joseph has represented clients at hundreds of court appearances and depositions of plaintiffs, corporate representatives, and fact witnesses.
Companies frequently face present-day lawsuits alleging injuries or damages arising from alleged asbestos exposures that happened decades ago and now seek assistance in defending these claims. Joseph has vast experience and expertise in all phases of litigation, including initial pleadings, written discovery, depositions, expert retention and development, dispositive motion practice, settlement negotiations, and trials. He has a strong track record of success in drafting and arguing motions on complex issues such as summary judgment, causation, personal jurisdiction, successor liability, joinder, and claims for indemnification and contribution.
Prior to joining Foley Mansfield, Joseph worked as a toxic tort litigation attorney in the New York office of a regional law firm. Earlier in his career, he worked as an assistant criminal appellate attorney where he reviewed trial records on appeal, researched and drafted appeals, and argued before the Appellate Division, Second Department.
