Viviana Varela is a civil litigator in the Miami office of Foley & Mansfield, where she focuses her practice in the defense of medical malpractice claims against healthcare providers, including physicians, hospitals, and nurses.
With more than twenty-two years of litigation experience – sixteen as a civil trial attorney – Viviana has represented a range of clients including individual medical providers, hospital systems, insurance carriers, big-box retailers, premises owners and employers in all phases of litigation. She also has extensive appellate experience, having successfully represented parties in the First, Second and Third District Courts of Appeal of Florida.
Prior to private practice, Viviana served as an Assistant State Attorney of the Tenth Judicial Circuit, Polk County, Florida, where she individually conducted more than 40 jury trials, garnering a high conviction rate for felony prosecutions.
