John Loomis, Of Counsel in Foley & Mansfield's Los Angeles office, has four decades of legal experience in the areas of product liability, toxic tort and mass tort litigation, with an emphasis in asbestos defense. His practice, however, is not limited to these areas, as he has extensive experience in litigating and trying personal injury, construction defect and professional malpractice matters.

In addition to representing clients in litigation matters, John has served as an arbitrator, mediator and judicial settlement officer in 200+ cases, and on multiple occasions as a Judge Pro Tem for the Los Angeles Superior Court.

Since being admitted to practice in California in 1970, John has appeared frequently in multiple State and Federal District Courts. He has also appeared in Nevada and Arizona courts and the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. He holds the peer-awarded highest possible Martindale-Hubbell rating for legal ability and adherence to professional standards of conduct, ethics, reliability and diligence. John has successfully tried a wide variety of cases in often highly technical contexts, including asbestos, and is well beyond ABOTA-qualified. He is also a current member of and participant in the DRI Toxic Tort and Environmental Law Committee.

John has spoken at numerous seminars, authored a multitude of educational legal outlines, been published in the Southern California Defense Counsel Journal on How to Take Expert Depositions, and is a co-director of and frequent participant in Foley and Mansfield’s associate mentoring and education program.

Every problem is an opportunity for an inevitable solution. Fix the problem, not the blame.
