Gregory Meihn is a partner in Foley & Mansfield’s Detroit office, where he focuses his transactional and litigation practice in the core areas of Employment and School Law. He also has an active Construction Law practice.

Greg represents and consults with insurance companies, cities, townships, municipalities, schools, and employers on employment and labor issues including but not limited to discipline, harassment, terminations, unions, discrimination, unemployment, employment hiring practices, non-competition agreement, and issues involving Michigan Elliott Larsen Civil Rights Act, Title VII, ADEA, ADA, and related statutes. Greg represents his clients before all Michigan Federal and State Courts, American Arbitration Association, FINRA, Michigan Employment Security Commission, National Labor Relations Board, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Michigan Department of Civil Rights, and Michigan Employment Relations Commission. He represents his clients on appeals to the Michigan Court of Appeals, Michigan Supreme Court, the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Indeed, recently Greg successfully defeated a writ of certiorari before the U.S. Supreme Court on a religious discrimination claim.

In addition to his successful employment and labor practice, Greg represents insurance companies, residential and commercial construction companies, rock crushing operators, and construction supply companies with regard to public jobs, bonded jobs, federal and state compliance issues, mold defense, construction defect, defective products, third party claims, Michigan Builders Trust Fund Act claims, and related matters.

Greg’s trial experience is significant as he has litigated through trial and/or Arbitration in excess of 66 matters (bench and jury) relating to employment and labor and construction defect claims.

Greg is well respected in Michigan by judges and fellow lawyers and was recently accorded the status of “Master Litigator” by the American Inns of Court. Greg has frequently been asked to author articles for Michigan Lawyers Weekly, Corp Magazine, and other publications and has appeared on ABC World News, ABC 12 News, WWJ regarding recent topical issues involving employment and labor issues.

Additionally, Greg was recognized by Lawyers Weekly as its 2009 21st Century Innovator of the Year for the Employment Connection Program he co-created. This program allows employers and businesses direct and immediate access to lawyers who promptly answer employment and business questions. The program allows employers to make good decisions quickly and, thereby, reduce the potential for litigation. The Employment Connection Program is now operative in 38 states.

Additionally, because of Greg’s reputation in the legal community, he was appointed to the State Bar of Michigan Professional Ethics Committee.


  • Hunt v Joseph Chevrolet, Inc., Tuscola County Circuit Court. Successful ten-day trial defense of multimillion-dollar sexual harassment and hostile work environment claim under Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act and Title VII. Court granted attorneys' fees for employer finding Plaintiff's Title VII claims were brought frivolous.
  • Arbitration (Names Withheld). Suit brought against residential construction company claiming knowledge of ant infestation which resulted in subsequent damages and injury to home owner. Claim dismissed based upon testimony of expert witnesses.
  • Stuart v Kingsway Builders, Inc. Suit by homeowner against construction company regarding alleged sinking foundation. Summary judgment granted on the basis of limited warranty and 6 year statute of limitations.
  • Coleman v American Red Cross, United States District Court East District of Michigan. Successful defense of case of first impression in the State of Michigan regarding HIV and blood bank institution.
  • Gullett v Autoform, Michigan Court of Appeals. Successful defense of circuit court decision dismissing unique case involving Workman’s Compensation Retaliation and ADA claims.
  • Mills v Sova Steel, Inc., Washtenaw County Circuit Court. Acquired dismissal of Whistleblower and Retaliation for reporting to MIOSHA asbestos issues and other environmental containments.
  • Name withheld v Joseph Pontiac, Inc.; Kucka v North Brothers, United States District Court. Successful defense of automotive companies involving case of first impression Michigan regarding the application of FDRP and Finance Sales Act regarding issuance of “adverse notice” compliance requirements.
  • Child No. 231441 v International Academy of Flint, U.S. Department of Education/MDCR. Successful trial defense of claim against Charter School for alleged disability discrimination, Section 504, and No Child Left Behind claims.
  • Name withheld v Marshall Sales, Inc., Wayne County Circuit Court. Successful defense of million-dollar whistleblower claim.
  • Name withheld v name withheld, United States District Court, Eastern District of Michigan. Successful application of the “crime fraud exception to attorney-client relations” in multimillion-dollar whistleblower case.
  • Name withheld v Sears Holding. Oakland County Circuit Court. Successful jury trial defense on claims involving product liability claim and Consumer Protection Act.
  • Represent numerous financial institutions in complex litigation involving NREPA, Clean Air Act, and wetlands litigations. Successful trial verdict representing a Michigan Probate Court involving a claims brought by long term employee of wrongful termination and violation of union contract.

Foley & Mansfield Obtains Complete Dismissal in Flint Water Lawsuit

Gregory M. Meihn and Matthew T. Wise obtained complete dismissal of a class action lawsuit filed against its client in the Flint, Michigan polluted water case.
