William T. Miedel is Of Counsel in Foley Mansfield’s New York office, where he concentrates his practice on the defense of toxic tort, products liability and complex personal injury matters. With more than 25 years of litigation experience across New York and New Jersey state and federal courts, William brings a depth of trial-ready skill and substantive knowledge to every client interaction.
William’s current practice encompasses the full range of toxic tort and mass tort defense, including the representation of consumer, commercial, and industrial product manufacturers in high-stakes litigation. Additionally, he defends a diverse client base — including shipowners, general contractors, automobile manufacturers, and municipalities — in complex premises liability, personal injury and products liability actions.
Over the course of his career, William has handled matters at every stage of complex litigation, from initial pleadings and discovery through motion practice, trial preparation, and resolution. He has demonstrated particular skill in expert witness strategy, having successfully moved to preclude plaintiff expert testimony in toxic tort matters at the summary judgment stage. Among his notable representations, William secured summary judgment for the defendant in Keller v. Exxon Mobil Corporation (S.D.N.Y. 2025) following the preclusion of plaintiff’s expert toxicologist. He also achieved a favorable forum transfer in Hulen v. Crane Co. (S.D.N.Y. 2013) and successfully opposed consolidation of asbestos cases for trial in In re Seventh Judicial District Asbestos Litigation (Monroe County 2002).
