Jennifer Gates is an attorney in the Chicago office of Foley Mansfield who focuses her practice in the areas of general liability and talc litigation. She is an accomplished trial attorney with more than a decade of courtroom experience in complex litigation, felony prosecution, and multi-agency law enforcement collaboration. Her career reflects a sustained commitment to the pursuit of justice across some of the most demanding courtrooms in the Chicago metropolitan area.

Prior to joining Foley Mansfield, Jennifer began her legal career as a prosecutor in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office Child Support Enforcement Division. She advanced through the Office, handling misdemeanor and felony matters in the Circuit Court of Cook County’s Third Municipal District. Following the Felony Review Unit, Jennifer served in the Gun Crime Strategies Unit, where she handled the full spectrum of serious felony matters, including murder, attempt murder, conspiracy to commit murder, solicitation of murder for hire, reckless homicide, aggravated vehicular hijacking, and aggravated battery. She was also cross-designated as a Special Assistant United States Attorney (SAUSA), enabling her to prosecute federal cases alongside her state caseload. As a Cook County prosecutor, Jennifer participated in numerous investigations, both on a state and federal level, and litigated hundreds of motions and trials.

Jennifer received her Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law and her undergraduate degree in Business Administration, with a minor in Spanish, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
