Ilene Munk, Managing Partner of the Portland office of Foley & Mansfield, is co-chairing the American Bar Association Master Class on Complex Environmental Liability Resolution in Atlanta, Georgia on June 12, 2019. Munk is Vice-Chair of the ABA Superfund and Natural Resources Committee and heads Foley & Mansfield’s national environmental practice group.

In addition to co-chairing the Master’s Class, Munk will serve as a panelist, with other national leaders, on a discussion of Regulatory Reforms needed to streamline Superfund cleanup and Brownfields redevelopment projects.

The ABA Master’s Class is being held in conjunction with a joint conference sponsored by ABA and EPA Region 4 in Atlanta focusing on environmental issues in natural disaster response, and the Southeast Region’s success in working with the regulated community and State partners.

Peter Wright, special counsel to EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler, will provide the keynote address for the Master’s Class detailing EPA’s priorities for the year ahead. EPA Director of the Office of Site Remediation and Enforcement, Cyndey Mackey, will provide new guidance from EPA regarding Brownfields redevelopment tools to facilitate cleanup and development of impacted properties. Industry experts will provide their perspectives on national Superfund reforms and share tools to structure environmental liability transfer agreements and funding sources.

Attendees will be encouraged to share their knowledge and experience in furtherance of constructive dialogue between EPA and the regulated community.
