Karl Heinzerling, Of Counsel in Foley & Mansfield’s Minneapolis office, oversees the firm’s Banking and Financial Services Group. Karl has more than 30 years experience handling all aspects of commercial real estate transactions, development and financing.

His specific areas of focus include acquisitions and sales, commercial and retail leasing, commercial loans, mortgage foreclosures, and land use issues such as zoning, environmental compliance and easements.

Representing banks, mortgage companies, developers, and buyers and sellers of property, Karl addresses client needs throughout all stages of a transaction – from due diligence through closing. He is well-versed in the intricacies of mortgage financing and secured lending, and as a skilled draftsman and negotiator, ensures that his clients' agreements are structured correctly from the outset. When real property disputes arise, Karl collaborates with the firm’s nationally-recognized litigators to protect and defend client rights.

Karl has lectured to various industry and legal organizations on real-estate matters, environmental and lending issues and financial-institutions law. He is an avid runner and baseball fan.
