Foley & Mansfield Elects Elizabeth Sorenson Brotten to Executive Committee

January 7, 2019Recognition

The national defense firm of Foley & Mansfield announces that Elizabeth “Liz” Sorenson Brotten has been elected to the firm’s Executive Committee, effective immediately. The committee serves as the firm’s managing body, overseeing administrative, business and strategic functions for the firm’s 16 offices and 180+ attorneys.

Brotten, a partner in F&M’s Minneapolis office, will succeed Virginia Easley Johnson, who has served in the role since 2008. Johnson, Managing Partner of the firm’s Miami and Tampa operations, will focus on her busy practice and the firm’s continued growth in Florida.

“We are incredibly thankful for Virginia’s dedication and enormous contributions to our firm, and are equally excited about this transition,” says founding partner Kyle Mansfield. “Liz is representative of our expanding bench of young trial attorneys and business originators. She is also a natural leader who will no doubt positively shape our culture and future.”

Brotten devotes her practice to defending product manufacturers, suppliers, and installers in high-risk product liability and toxic tort cases. She is also experienced in defending commercial disputes throughout the upper Midwest. Brotten is a leader in both state and national defense organizations. She serves on the Defense Research Institute’s Women in the Law and Toxic Tort & Environmental Law national steering committees. Locally, she serves on the Board of Directors of the Minnesota Defense Lawyers Association and co-founded its Women in the Law committee. In addition to authoring articles on defense topics, she has presented at numerous regional and national conferences.

A 2006 graduate of William Mitchell College of Law, Brotten is admitted to practice in Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
