Qualifications

About the Position

Foley Mansfield, a professional limited liability partnership, is a national law firm with more than 110 attorneys in offices from coast to coast. We provide legal expertise, creative solutions and extensive trial experience for large corporations, small businesses and individuals.

We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the firm’s accounting operations and financial reporting across multiple offices. This role is critical to maintaining financial integrity, supporting firm leadership with accurate reporting and analysis, and ensuring compliance with legal-industry accounting requirements. The ideal candidate will bring strong professional-services experience, preferably within a law firm or multi-office environment. This position is hybrid, with training and regular team meetings occurring in person.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, and monthly close
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for firm leadership
  • Manage firm-wide revenue recognition in coordination with attorneys and billing team
  • Ensure compliance with trust/IOLTA accounting rules and applicable state bar requirements
  • Monitor cash flow, partner distributions, capital accounts
  • Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, and work with external auditors and tax advisors
  • Develop, document, and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis for strategic planning
  • Supervise and mentor staff; manage workflow and performance
  • Lead or support accounting system enhancements and process improvements
