California Attorneys Sharp and Johnson Earn Non-Suit in Asbestos Trial

Gary D. Sharp and Darren P. Johnson of Foley & Mansfield, Oakland and Los Angeles, California offices respectively, were granted a non-suit after 10 days of trial in the Los Angeles Superior Court, Chatsworth Division on behalf of Calaveras Asbestos, Ltd. Plaintiffs filed suit on behalf of Judith Winkel claiming that her mesothelioma had been caused by exposure to asbestos from the Calaveras mine through her husband’s work with an asbestos containing roofing cement. At the conclusion of the plaintiff’s evidence, Mr. Sharp and Mr. Johnson convinced the Court that plaintiffs had failed to establish a connection between the alleged exposure and any fiber supplied by Calaveras.
