Provides Pro Bono Assistance to Homeowner’s Association in Inglewood, CA
Lisa Anne Coe, an attorney
in Foley & Mansfield’s Los Angeles office, recently offered pro bono assistance
to the Homeowner’s Association of a local condominium complex in removing a
Mechanic’s Lien filed against each unit by a former board member. The units,
located in Inglewood, California, were in serious need of repair after prior
construction performed by the former board member began to deteriorate. Though
economic downturn and the costs of needed repairs left the HOA without funds to
hire counsel to sort through the legal problems created by the Mechanic’s Lien,
Coe defended the HOA when the plaintiffs brought an enforcement action,
ultimately prevailing by securing an order of dismissal and an order releasing
the Mechanic’s Lien. The Board Members were ecstatic at the final hearing,
thanking Coe and Foley & Mansfield profusely for their assistance.
